The Victorian Pride Centre provides essential services for the LGBTIQ+ community. We’re proud to have made it accessible for everyone.

Ratio’s transport team prepared a carpark management plan for efficient onsite parking and a green travel plan to encourage other modes of transport.
A Community Space

In July 2021, the Victorian Pride Centre opened its doors. As Australia’s first of its kind, this purpose-built community hub serves as a base for ten resident groups and 40 community organisations.

It also offers essential services, resources, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces for multiple groups. Everyone who worked on this project at Ratio took pride in contributing to what will be a vital centre for the community.

A plan for safe traffic

Ratio’s transport team prepared a thorough carpark management plan to ensure parking and access arrangements for practical traffic flow. The plan included safe manoeuvring of traffic within the car park located at the intersection of Fitzroy Street and Jackson Street.

Green Travel Plan

Ratio’s team also developed a green travel plan which encouraged staff and visitors to use more sustainable modes of transport when coming to the centre, such as public transport, cycling, walking and car-sharing.

Key Stakeholders

The Port Philip City Council donated the site for the centre. The Victorian Government contributed $25 million to the project.

Local firms Grant Amon Architects, Brearley Architects and Urbanists won the competition to design the custom space. Their modernist conception of the centre incorporates a range of multi-use spaces, a gallery, a theatre and a café.
