The Project
Funded by the Save The Bridge Committee to restore and use the bridge as a bike trail, the Snowy River Rail Bridge is located across the floodplains where the Snowy River drains proximate to Marlo.
This project carries the intrinsic obligation to protect and enhance an iconic attraction for the local economy and tourism, and increase contribution towards values of recreation, conservation and education of European settlement and awareness of the indigenous culture and history.
Our Work
Ratio’s Urban Design team were commissioned to consult on the historic project in September 2022.
Landscape Architect and Project leader Liz Heath, and Director Tim Biles are providing expert design advice and consultation coordination in partnership with Neonormals’ Madeleine Preece, who is providing expert branding and communications direction.
The team is working directly with Gippsland Project Management Group (GPM) and the Save The Snowy Rail Bridge community group, and intends to work in consultation with local stakeholder groups including Gunai Kurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC), DELWP and East Gippsland Shire Council (EGSC) for the duration of their work.
The project design is slated for completion during the latter half of 2022 with installation to begin in 2023.
