The Project
The draft Elsternwick Structure Plan sets a long-term vision for how the Activity Centre will develop from a built form, public realm and transport perspective.
The plan will outline expected changes to land use and development, transport and parking, building and urban design, heritage and character, employment, open spaces, and infrastructure provision.
As part of the draft Structure Plan process, the Transport Study assisted with forming the basis for future transport networks and car parking within the Elsternwick Activity Centre. The study focuses on ensuring that car-based traffic is not a limiter of built form for Elsternwick and aims instead at understanding how transport will play a supporting role to ensure integrated outcomes and achieving the overall vision for the Activity Centre.
Our Work
Ratio’s transport team provided advice through the Transport Study to complete a review of the background and strategic context, existing conditions and establishment of transport related issues, opportunities and constraints.
Transport planning, modelling and traffic engineering skillsets were key to overcoming site challenges including vehicle and pedestrian access, car parking and traffic impacts, including along the main corridor of Glenhuntly Road which currently caters for a variety of modes.
Our team look forward to watching the next stages of this land use and placemaking project, which is currently under community consultation, come to fruition.
