The Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC) has constructed a new Integrated Services Hub (ISH) to deliver a diverse range of services to people seeking asylum in south-east Melbourne.

The facility’s design work was completed by Bates Smart and Garner Davis Architects with landscape architecture by Enlocus.

The Development

The ISH repurposes the existing two-storey office building located at 205 Thomas Street, Dandenong and will become the first permanent site for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC).

The site is in proximity to the Greater Dandenong library and numerous local eateries.

Our Work

Joining the project team in October 2018, our Planning and Transport teams provided pro bono expertise to the updated development.

Our Planning team obtained approval for building and works to the façade and signage input and our Transport team provided technical support to the application seeking a reduction in car parking requirements.

An amendment to the existing planning permit was subsequently achieved, persuading Council to accept a revised car parking arrangement that would allow for the development of the rear garden for use by the facility to provide an additional amenity for visitors and staff.

We look forward to watching the important facility serve its community.
