The Development
This purpose-built, three storey, 120-place childcare centre is uniquely positioned along the bank of the Kananook Creek.
Our Work
Our planning team facilitated a planning permit despite significant community objections. The strategic context of the site was favourable to this development, and we successfully negotiated with Melbourne Water and Council to address the sensitivity of its creek location.
As a small and narrow site on Nepean Highway within the Frankston activity centre, our transport team negotiated the key challenge of accommodating all centre car parking and delivery needs within the site whilst ensuring parking and access was fully integrated within the development and did not dominate the presentation of the development to the street.
Our waste team provided the project team with design recommendations for the ground level bin store and prepared a waste management plan report to accompany the town planning application. The proposed waste management system for the development involved general waste, commingled recycling and organics bins and a hard waste/e-waste storage area. The waste team also prepared a swept path assessment to demonstrate that a 6.4-metre-long mini rear loader could access the ground level car park for waste collection in a suitable manner.
Our transport and waste teams were glad to assist the project team in developing a design response that met these challenges and was able to retain the use of the existing site access to minimise change and impact on Nepean Highway.
