Catherine’s 40-year career encompasses a wide range of urban and regional planning projects.
Her professional practice and experience lie at the intersection of urban planning, statutory control, built form and urban design assessment and visual impacts. Catherine’s career often involves collaboration with other design professionals to resolve site planning, built form and visual impacts that go beyond statutory compliance to achieve superior qualitative, performance based outcomes. Serving a 5 year term as Chair of Victoria's Heritage Council furthered her expertise in development impact assessment in development sensitive areas.
Catherine has a particular combination of skills and experience that allows her to regularly present expert testimony to Tribunals, Ministerial Panels and Advisory Committees on planning matters that involve built form, landscape and visual impact analysis.
Catherine has authored professional papers, including ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’ which she presented at the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association Conference 2018. She has been a Trustee of Melbourne’s Heritage Restoration fund and a jury member of various urban design, planning and landscape institute awards.
Catherine’s specialities lie in urban design, heritage issues and visual landscape impact assessments.
