The project
Newhaven Tarneit will provide a connected residential community with tree-lined streets, parks, playgrounds and landscaped public spaces.
In addition, the masterplan includes Wimba Primary School and Kindergarten, a proposed 10-hectare sports precinct, and a town centre.
Importantly, the future West Tarneit Train Station also forms part of the broader masterplan, creating an important opportunity to connect the growing community with public transport.
Our Work
Ratio’s transport team has supported Newhaven since 2020, working closely with the project team and government authorities as the masterplan progressed.
Our involvement includes transport planning and design for a masterplan extension comprising 764 residential lots, 1.5ha of community facilities and 2.6ha of open space.
A key component of this work involved designing the intersection connecting the Newhaven estate with the future West Tarneit Train Station. In August 2026, this work reached an important milestone when the traffic signals at the intersection switched on.
Throughout the project, our team worked closely with government as the masterplan evolved and density increased. In response to changing transport requirements, we adapted our approach to ensure the road network can support the growing community and connect residents with new infrastructure.
Ultimately, Newhaven highlights the importance of integrating transport planning with masterplanning outcomes as new communities develop alongside major public transport investment.
