The project
The City of Port Phillip granted approval in 2025 for a new South Melbourne Police Station, delivering a contemporary facility for Victoria Police’s South Melbourne branch. Designed by Bamford Architects, the project replaces the existing station and provides upgraded workplace facilities designed to better support both staff and the local community.
The proposal includes a range of operational and public-facing spaces suited to a modern police station, alongside a public realm upgrade incorporating streetscape landscaping, safety infrastructure, seating and urban art. Together, these elements will contribute to a safer and more engaging streetscape outcome.
Early works commenced in late 2025, with construction now underway.
