The Development
This sustainable Sports & Aquatic Centre utilises high-performance glass, reducing energy consumption, while roof solar panels contribute 95kw to the school.
The new sporting facility includes a swimming pool, dance studio, gymnasium and courts for netball, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Our Work
Ratio’s Planning team continued our ongoing relationship with Ivanhoe Grammar School by consulting on the Sports & Aquatic Centre. Substantial excavation of the site was required to provide two levels of basketball courts, ensuring the building met the school’s requirements.
While a standard roof was originally contemplated as part of the Development Plan process, McIldowie Partners saw the benefit in making the roof trafficable to enable more usable space and make the most of the wonderful views offered by the site. While this meant the planning process was extended and amendments made to the Development Plan, a better overall outcome was achieved for the client and future generations of students.
