The $104 million public housing estate in Ascot Vale has been completed after two years of construction works.

Forming part of Victoria’s $5.3 billion Big Housing Build, the accessible and affordable apartments provide safe and secure housing for individuals and families in need.

The Project

The development replaced 80 walk-up residences with 200 accessible apartments in one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations and five fully accessible apartments for people with disabilities.

100 social housing residences will be managed by Evolve Homes with a further 100 residences available through the Affordable Housing Rental Scheme. These residences will offer an alternative to renting through the private market with costs sitting at close to 10 percent less than Melbourne’s average rental rate.

The Ascot Vale housing estate carries a 5-star Green Star rating and a 7-star NatHERS average rating, with a minimum Silver rating from Liveable Housing Australia.

The development further incorporates communal gardens with seating areas and barbeque facilities.

Our Work

Ratio were engaged in 2018 to provide traffic and transport input from inception of the project and were involved all the way to completion and occupation. Not only did the team provide design input and technical traffic analysis and reporting, but also attended community consultation/engagement to ensure community input was accommodated in the design response.
The team worked through the Town Planning process to achieve a Permit for the project (including the CPMP) and continued to provide specialist input as the project was delivered.
