The project
Yiaga is the transformation of the former Pavilion Café into a new dining destination within Melbourne’s historic Fitzroy Gardens.
Located in the heart of one of Melbourne’s busiest public parks, the project required construction to take place while maintaining safe access for the thousands of people who use the gardens every day. With a single vehicle access point and an extensive network of pedestrian paths connecting Wellington Parade through the park, construction logistics were a key consideration throughout the project.
Our Work
Our transport team prepared the construction traffic management strategy for the redevelopment.
Working within a live park environment presented a unique set of challenges. We assessed vehicle access to the centre of the gardens, determined appropriate truck sizes to support construction activities and developed strategies to safely manage the interface between construction vehicles and pedestrians.
By carefully coordinating construction movements with the surrounding public environment, we helped enable the transformation of the site while maintaining safe access through one of Melbourne’s most visited parks.
