With a range of on-site amenities and facilities essential for the international standard hotel, the 17-storey tower has 150 hotel rooms, a fitness centre, a rooftop terrace, café and restaurant venues, two levels of basement car parking and is fully licensed throughout.
Our Work
Our planning team joined the project in 2015, working closely with the City of Melbourne to gain support and overcome third party objections which were negotiated as part of an agreement through VCAT.
Our team facilitated a permit and managed various post-permit amendments, responding to evolving urban context at the city fringe, especially with Design and Development Overlay (DDO) controls of West Melbourne that called for transitioning the scale of the development from the higher towers in CBD to the lower scale environment in North Melbourne.
With the West Melbourne Structure Plan planning controls looming, which were threatening increasingly restrictive limits on the height and intensity of development during this period, our team was proud to deliver a major development approval in a timely fashion with an overall yield that met the client brief.
