The new development is situated in the Frankston Metropolitan Activity Centre (MAC).

The mixed-use building will provide much-needed housing stock in the area and contribute to the revitalisation of the MAC.

The Project

The eight-storey mixed-use development will deliver 60 residential apartments with ground-floor retail tenancy opportunities.

The development is located proximate to Frankston Railway Station, local schooling facilities and Frankston Beach.

Our Work

Our planning, transport and waste management team advised on the development.

Our transport team prepared a Traffic Impact Assessment of the proposed mixed-use development. This included the preparation of a Car Parking Demand Assessment to justify the proposed allocation of on-site car parking, resulting in a sought reduction of retail visitor car parking based on parking surveys and analysis and a review of sustainable transport options in the precinct.

Our waste management team provided waste design advice and a waste management plan allowing for high levels of at-source waste separation within residential apartments. The building will be equipped with general waste and recycling chutes to maximise convenience of recycling, with dedicated drop-off in the refuse room allowed for organics, glass, hard waste and e-waste for residents. A separate refuse room has also been provided for commercial waste, with the design enabling onsite waste collection.

Following the submission of the Planning Application, Council provided a Request for Further Information. The team assisted in updating the development plans to respond to Councils comments as well as preparing a formal written response to Councils comments.

Following lengthy negotiations with Council officers and the Department of Transport and Planning, officers recommended approval of the proposal. A positive outcome at a Council meeting on 18 March saw Councillors vote in favour of the development.
