We the Wild

Gold Medal and Best in Show - Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show 2026
Gold Medal and Best in Show - Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show 2026

We the Wild reimagines Victoria’s southern coastline as an ecological micro-system for contemporary urban living.

We the Wild was recognised at the 2026 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show with:

  • Gold Medal

  • Best Use of Plant Life

  • Best in Show

Our 310 sqm show garden demonstrates how compact green spaces can foster biodiversity, support pollinators, aid urban cooling and restore our emotional connection to the natural world.

We the Wild is our 2026 show garden for the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, designed by Director: Landscape Matt York. Drawing on the raw character of Victoria’s southern coastline, with its salt spray, granite formations, sandy soils and shifting grasses, the design brings these qualities into a 310 sqm garden suited to contemporary residential living.

Features include an eco-cabin framed by natives, a perennial meadow, northern garden, southern fernery, firepit, circular wet ledge and eucalyptus canopy anchored by granite outcrops.

The garden works as an ecological micro-system, fostering biodiversity, supporting pollinators, creating habitat and aiding urban cooling. Every element, from plants and stonework to furniture, has been sourced through local partners. We’re measuring canopy coverage, pollination support and heat reduction to show that even a modest green space can deliver real environmental gains.
